I have started to save more money by using the power of nature. I have installed solar lights to light up my garden not the dim ones you find on sale at the garden centre's but a bright light so you can actually see what your are doing. I have also built a small wind turbine to power my garage using old car parts and I am looking to build a water wheel to power most of the house as there is a stream near by and will give me power for all most all of the time. What you need for the solar light is a couple of old car battery(I pick these up from my local garage for free and then recondition them click here to find out more), solar panel which you can make yourself at a fraction of the price and some 12 volt lights(I used some old car lights which cost£1 each from a carboot sale). The system I put together last for about 12 hours and takes about 2 day to charge if the battery are totally discharge. The system I built uses a bank of 6 car batteries which is enough to light it up and run some power tools for about 4-8 hours and cost me the same amount if I was to put power from the mains to the garage.
